Crane Lake’s devotion to producing wines of distinction finds its zenith in their 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, a prime example of their dedication to creating an unforgettable wine experience.
As a devoted wine aficionado, I delved into the sensory journey that this wine offered, a journey that commenced with the eye-catching appearance of the wine in the glass, radiating a deep and inviting garnet hue.
Upon the initial swirl and subsequent inhalation, the aromas gracefully wafted to my nose, carrying hints of ripe berries, subtle oak undertones, and a nuanced suggestion of vanilla.
This intricate olfactory profile hinted at the complexity that awaited my palate. The first sip was an exploration of flavors that unfolded in layers, each sip revealing more of the Cabernet’s character.
Rich blackberry notes danced harmoniously with the warmth of spices, forming a symphony of tastes that lingered as a velvety finish, akin to a parting note of a well-composed melody.
In the realm of wine, context often dictates enjoyment, and Crane Lake’s 2018 Cabernet proves its versatility by being equally adept at both solitary sipping and complementing a wide array of culinary delights.
Its structured tannins and well-balanced acidity render it an apt companion for a succulent cut of steak, intensifying the dining experience as the flavors intermingle and elevate one another.
Beyond the confines of a solitary tasting, the larger narrative of Crane Lake’s dedication to crafting affordable yet luxurious wines unfolds. Their offerings transcend the role of mere beverages, inviting enthusiasts to partake in an exploration of California’s viticultural landscapes.
Whether it’s the velvety texture of a Cabernet Sauvignon, the crispness of a Chardonnay, or the refreshing allure of a rosé, Crane Lake wines beckon both novices and connoisseurs alike to embrace the pleasure of the palate.
The ethos of Crane Lake extends beyond the bottled elixirs; it encapsulates a commitment to responsible winemaking practices that respect the environment and the communities from which they draw their inspiration.
With the rise in consumer consciousness about sustainability, the brand has positioned itself as a torchbearer of eco-consciousness in the wine industry.
Their dedication to organic and biodynamic principles not only ensures the health of the land but also translates into the vibrancy and authenticity that permeate each sip.
As a testament to the exquisite journey that Crane Lake wines offer, I present the following grade sheet, which reflects my comprehensive evaluation of their 2018 Cabernet:
Crane Lake Grading Sheet
Overall I give this Cab a 3 /5 due to lack of lasting flavor; as if the flavor only lasted a second or two after each sip. But I do believe this is good beginner / budget friendly wine.
