It’s where science, culture, and cuisine unite to create an unforgettable experience. And for food lovers like me, the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is the crown jewel.
Epcot Food and Wine Festival 2023
The festival, held annually from late summer to mid-fall, transforms Epcot into a global culinary showcase.
Picture 30 vibrant marketplaces, each representing a different country or region. It’s a tantalizing journey around the world in one park.
A Tour Around the World
Our adventure begins at the Festival Welcome Center, where we pick up our festival passports – our guides to the delectable journey ahead. Armed with these booklets, we embark on a tasting tour that spans the globe.
First stop: Hawaii. Here, the flavors of the Pacific beckon with dishes like Kalua Pork Sliders and Tuna Poke. As I savor the tender pork and fresh fish, I can’t help but be transported to the sandy shores of the Hawaiian islands.
Next up is Greece, with its iconic Mediterranean fare. The Greek Salad is a refreshing delight, but it’s the Lamb Moussaka that steals the show. Layers of lamb, eggplant, and béchamel sauce create a symphony of flavors that leave me craving more.
As I move from marketplace to marketplace, I encounter culinary treasures from Belgium, Japan, Italy, and beyond. Each dish is a testament to the culinary expertise of the Disney chefs, who meticulously recreate these international flavors.
A Toast to Exploration: Wines, Beers, and More
Of course, what’s a food festival without something to wash it all down? Epcot Food & Wine offers an extensive selection of beverages, including wines, beers, and even cocktails.
I find myself sipping a fruity Riesling in Germany, then enjoying a creamy Guinness in Ireland.

One of the festival’s highlights is the Craft Beer Marketplace. Here, I sample flights of innovative brews, from citrus-infused IPAs to rich stouts. It’s a beer lover’s paradise, complete with expertly paired snacks.
The festival is not just about indulging your taste buds; it’s also an opportunity to sharpen your culinary skills. Throughout the event, celebrity chefs and Disney chefs lead engaging cooking demonstrations. I attend one led by a Michelin-starred chef, where I learn the art of crafting a perfect risotto.
Family Fun and More: Kid-Friendly Activities
For families, the festival offers Kidcot Fun Stops, where children can engage in fun rides, cultural activities, and collect stamps from different countries. It’s a fantastic way to introduce kids to diverse cultures while the adults can still have fun.

Community and Culture: The Heart of the Festival
Amidst the culinary delights, it’s essential to remember that the Epcot Food & Wine Festival is not just a celebration of food; it’s a celebration of people and cultures. Each marketplace is staffed by individuals from the respective countries, eager to share their heritage and traditions.
Let’s Review
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is a celebration of flavors, cultures, and the joy of discovery. It’s a place where the world’s cuisines come together in harmony, where you can savor delicacies from far-flung corners of the globe.
But beyond the plates and glasses, it’s a reminder that food has the power to bring people together, transcending borders and languages. It’s an invitation to embrace the diversity of our world, one delicious bite at a time.
